About Kurnell Stingrays Junior Rugby League Football Club
Kurnell is home to the mighty Stingrays JRLFC, one of the Shire's favourite rugby league clubs. The Kurnell Junior Rugby League Football Club was formed after a committee meeting on 17 th November 1991. In all, seven teams took to the field for the 1992 season. The clubhouse, built in Marton Park adjacent to Marton Hall, caters to an active membership in excess of 180, including players. Today the Stingrays are fielding both Junior and Senior Rugby League and League Tag teams in competition with other clubs. The name 'Stingrays' originates from Cook's own log when he first named Botany Bay 'Stingray Harbour'.
